During an educational session conducted at Swima more than 150 kilometers of Bukavu in south of the southern province of South Kivu, Ms Sifa Citera, Social Worker at the Panzi Hospital recommends that women avoid long burdens, childbirth unassisted, and precocious pregnancy.
For her, these are the main causes of fistula, one of the diseases that cause suffering to women in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
Among these causes, Ms Sifa also cites rape by introducing foreign objects into the vagina (Piece of wood, weapon) or a medical accident.
“The Panzi Hospital has been unemployed for several years to repair fistulas (Uro-genital and Recto-vaginal) in the eastern DRC and provide a solution for women with gynecological problems (uterine prolapse, cystocele, rectocele) , “she says, adding” these diseases are treated free at the Panzi Hospital through the Project supported the survivors of Sexual Violence (SVS Project).
Ms SIFA pathetic appeals to men to get involved in their respective families in order to spare the women and girls risk of getting fistula. It also encourages women not to hide their health and to appear at the Hospital for medical monitoring.
Hundreds of people, all gender confused attended the outreach session.
