In the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics there are more than 29 staff and 4 specialists. Panzi Hospital provides maternal care free of charge for all women who request the service. This is a rare feature, as the majority of health facilities in DRC charge for all services including maternal health care. We are currently looking to fund the construction of a new maternity ward to ensure we can meet the growing demand. In 2011, 2800 patients received treatment and the maternity ward catered to close to 3400 women, with 3372 deliveries.
